What is T-Trak?T-Trak is a system of small modules that make up a portable model railroad layout. A “standard” module is only 12⅛” x 14” x 2½” and are easy to build, store, and transport. Modules may be constructed from readily available materials at home. Precut module kits can also be purchased on line. Layouts are set up and run on standard banquet tables (30” x 96”).
T-Trak modules are much smaller that other modular model railroad systems. A T-Trak layout can be described as a “modular module”. Four corners and two straight modules would be about 2½ feet by 3½ feet. You can set up your layout on the kitchen table and the modules come apart easily after use. A module can be placed into another club or group layout, like the Orange County “N” Gineers, and operated as part of a display. T-Trak modules are a great way to enter the hobby, allowing you to enjoy the hobby with minimal expense. Since T-Trak uses Kato brand Unitrack sectional track, it doesn’t require track laying or electrical wiring skills. Unitrack is very reliable and removes the disappointment (and time and money required) of poor track work. Unitrack is available at most hobby stores that carry model railroad supplies. You can build a T-Trak module in a few evenings. T-Trak is an affordable and fun way to participate in the hobby of model railroading and it is a great activity for kids. |
